RESEARCH & EDUCATION
JRIC physicians are among the most highly trained in joint replacement in Colorado. Both Medical Directors have completed year long fellowship programs in joint replacement and all of the other JRIC physicians have participated in shorter, more intensive, joint replacement programs. Actively involved in ongoing research programs, JRIC physicians aim to remain abreast of the latest joint replacement techniques and as a result, deliver the most advanced joint replacement care available today. Current studies underway involve matching ceramic hip materials and knee implant components with the appropriate orthopaedic intervention and unique needs and conditions of each patient.
Dr Feign and Dr. Szuszczewicz are leading Joint Replacement surgeons in Colorado with year long accredited fellowships in hip and knee replacement and adult reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Feign Graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Grandview Hospital, Ohio University in Dayton, and a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Dr Feign specializes in total joint replacement and arthritis surgery. He has also attained additional specialty training in minimally invasive hip and knee surgeries. Recently Dr. Feign has been involved in clinical research with ceramics in total hip arthroscopies and will continue with hip and knee research through JRIC.
Dr. Szuszczewicz completed his undergraduate degree at the College of William and Mary. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine. For his post-graduate training he fulfilled a surgical internship at the University of Colorado and research fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at Harbor-UCLA. Tulane University is where he performed his orthopaedic surgical residency followed by a clinical fellowship in hip and knee replacement surgery at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute (AORI) in Alexandria, VA. Dr. Szuszczewicz has published numerous papers from his work at Harbor-UCLA, Tulane and AORI, and was awarded the prestigious Charnley Award for his research in hip replacement surgery. He has completed additional specialty training in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery as well as partial (uni-compartmental) knee replacement surgery.
